With engagement season coming to a close and wedding season approaching, it’s time we look at some big trends we’ll be seeing in 2015. As weddings become more and more personalized, cakes are becoming less traditional. While the classics are always stunning, we are excited to see more unique cakes taking center stage. We picked out some of the top cake trends that we just can’t wait to see this year! Metallic CakesOne of our favorite trends we’re seeing in 2015 is cakes with metallic elements! The addition of gold or silver details can transform a simple cake into a glamorous masterpiece. We especially love cakes that mix metallics, whether it’s silver and gold, rose gold and pearl, minimalist rose gold stripes, or a subtle gold ombre. The combinations are endless and neutral enough to fit into any weddings color scheme. Textured CakesAnother theme we’re noticing in 2015 is an emphasis on texture. From soft cascading ruffles, to neat and clean polka dots, texture is a great way to add some interest to a simple white cake. A textured cake is also the perfect backdrop for over-the-top flowers or a large cake topper. No matter your style, it’s easy to incorporate this eclectic detail into your wedding! Naked CakesIn terms of cake, “naked” simply means that the cake is only frosted between layers and not on the sides. The end result of this unique update can range from ethereal, to fun and playful! Naked cakes allow for touches like berries between layers, or a dusting of powdered sugar to really shine. Planning on having a red velvet cake, or another fun colored cake? A naked cake will showcase it beautifully.
