Emily + Alex's Sweet Ceremony

​Emily and Alex celebrated their wedding on the ultimate summer day at The Mansion at Bald Hill in Woodstock, Connecticut surrounded by 175 of their closest family and friends. The couple planned every detail to ensure the perfect balanced day – from a meaningful and emotional ceremony to a spirited dance floor that just would not quit.

The couple spent the morning getting ready at the Bed & Breakfast on The Mansion’s property where they were staying for the weekend. Ever so charming and subtle, the B&B proved to be the perfect setting for morning activities as family and vendors began to arrive.

Emily was able to treasure some quiet and quality time away from the hustle of the day with her best friend (and also Maid of Honor!) while The Salon by Priscilla worked their magic on hair and makeup to make each woman feel beautiful inside and out. 

Early in the afternoon Emily and Alex shared their first look in the gardens, the epitome of summertime in New England. They were full of lush greenery and blooming flowers, the ideal backdrop for the occasion as it truly highlighted the emotions on Alex’s face when he saw Emily in her dress for the first time. 

As the hot summer sun started to wear down, guests arrived for a late afternoon ceremony. The music selections included songs by The Beatles, a favorite of the couple, and readings by family members. The ceremony, officiated by Honorary Peter Moulton, was full of both laughter and tears, and most importantly, genuine moments of love.

During the cocktail hour, guests were welcomed to try their turn at games of corn hole, bocce, and other lawn games while digging in to delicious spreads from cheese boards to Mediterranean-inspired platters. 

The couple even managed to steal a few intimate moments to capture the perfect light for portraits during golden hour. Emily and Alex wandered around The Mansion’s grounds and found various nooks and crannies unknown to wedding guests. 

Emily and Alex entered the room to big applause before enjoying a first dance and special parent dances.  

​After a full three-course meal and toasts by the maid of honor, best man, and both sets of parents, Emily and Alex spoke their own words of gratitude to their guests. Baked by Soleil & Suns Bakery and adorned with flowers by Garden Gate Florist, who also designed the colorful centerpieces and bouquets, the couple then cut their cake – of three delicious layers! 

​Meanwhile the party began with a lively hora, truly setting the night into motion! DJ Dakeya Christmas kept guests dancing all night playing hit after hit. The moves continued even as the lights flickered on and the perfect evening of electricity and joy came to a close.
