Karinna & Nick's Elegant Affair

The incredible love of their expansive family was at the heart of Karinna and Nick’s emotional, elegant wedding. It was a truly special and memorable celebration, and we feel so lucky to have been a part of it!

Gorgeous photos below are courtesy of Shane Godfrey Photography.

For an entire day the spectacular Pierce House in Lincoln was theirs, and the beautiful touches throughout, from keepsakes to framed photos in every room, made the space feel like their home.

Karinna and her bridal party arrived from the Westin in full glam squad mode. They hurried upstairs to make sure Nick and his crew didn’t catch a glimpse as they took a few moments to enjoy the view from the beautiful bridal suite. Karinna zipped into her Lazaro dress, grabbed her bouquet from Bittersweet Gardens, and nervously awaited their first look, knowing that Nick would be waiting in the gardens outside for her.

Meanwhile throughout the house, we put the finishing touches on each room. We lined mantelpieces with beloved family photos, hung candle-lit mason jars among the oaks, and arranged the gorgeous tablescapes designed by Karinna’s mother-in-law. Every small detail added to the warm, welcoming ambience.

The clouds cleared away just in time for the heartfelt ceremony by the pond. Karinna’s brother-in-law officiated with a sincere sweetness, drawing laughter and tears from the guests. With his final words he ushered Nick and Karinna into their new adventure, and the group was ready to celebrate!

Drawn back to the house by the sound of the baby grand and saxophone, everyone enjoyed lawn games and the couple’s signature cocktail, “Loud Mouth Soup”. Capers Catering kept the delicious apps and drinks coming. Meanwhile in the tent, we lit candles and arranged herbs at each place setting, keeping with the casual, heirloom-vintage feel of Karinna’s decor.

As the mid-autumn sun began to set, everyone took their seats and awaited the couples introduction to “Love on Top." When the couple welcomed their loved ones to the reception, they toasted in memory of Karinna’s father, who they knew would have torn up the dance floor. And with that cue, the party was in the hands of Ripcord, who were every bit as lively as the family who couldn’t wait to show off their excellent dance moves.

Rainbow on the Marina: Alex + Sarah

7/5/2018

Sarah & Alex’s fall wedding was especially special to us since they were a “repeat” client! We had the honor of coordinating Sarah’s sister Ashley’s wedding just two years ago (their full blog post is here) and what an honor it was to hear from Sarah basically as soon as she and Alex got engaged that she wanted to work with us too!

We had the pleasure of supporting Sarah and Alex while they planned for the 20 months of their engagement, and it made the day finally arriving even more special.

The photos captured below are courtesy of the talented Eric Widor, who also shot Ashley’s wedding.

Sarah, Alex, and their families arrived at the venue on the day before the wedding to do as much setup as they could. The Chart Room in Pocasset is a seasonable business, known in the summer for their seafood and bar menu and unmatched views of the marina.  The building itself is a converted railroad barge, which makes for some pretty interesting architecture. Because the wedding was off-season, we had the run of the whole building.

On the day of their wedding, both Sarah and Alex, along with their close friends and family, got ready for the day at the Sea Crest Hotel. The ladies' hair was done by Alice Cloutier and makeup by Nicole Plasse before Sarah put on her beautiful beaded Maggie Sottero dress. The couple did a first look at the hotel. It was rainy during the day, so they opted for an indoor photo shoot with each other and they even included their dog Esther! A bus from AAT Transport brought the couple and the bridal party and parents over to the Chart Room where they were able to take some more photos and get relaxed before guests arrived.

Despite the rain, everyone was in great spirits.  When the bus pulled up full of guests, the skies dried up and the sun shone down, as bright as any summer day. Guests gathered around the free-standing chuppah, which Sarah & Alex had made themselves, and awaited the walk down the aisle.

The moment that Sarah stepped out of the restaurant with a parent on each arm, a gorgeous rainbow popped up behind her. It was a fitting moment for years of planning that led Sarah and Alex to this point and it brought tears to the guests’ eyes.

The ceremony, officiated by a family friend, was so personal to the two of them. It ended with both Sarah & Alex together breaking the glass, in the Jewish tradition, and sharing a kiss as a newly married couple.

Guests cheered as they walked back down the aisle and then everyone headed to the bar. Guests were able to enjoy the outdoor patio as well as explore the indoor space during the cocktail hour while the bride and groom took just a few more photos.  Guests could order the signature drink of the restaurant, a frozen mudslide, at the bar and grab a favor, custom matchboxes.

There was also a specialty guestbook to sign: it was a bench that guests could write on that is now in Sarah & Alex’s home. The lovely centerpieces were handmade by the groom’s mom and included many twinkle lights and succulents in special jars.

Food for both the cocktail hour and reception was provided by an onsite wood-wired pizza truck, Fire It Up Flatbread. Service (including setup and cleanup) was provided by our favorite team at Caterstaff.  Everyone was eager for the party to start so the band, Darrell and the Derelicts, helped us move everyone into the main restaurant space and introduced, for the first time, the Mr. and Mrs.  They shared a sweet dance together, their first one, and it was followed by both a father/daughter dance and a mother/son dance.

The staffing company and the pizza truck worked together to set up the buffet which had so many options for guests, and the pizza just kept coming.  Sarah and Alex stepped outside to do a non-traditional cake cutting… a pizza cutting! There were three types of dessert pizza: s’mores, sweet strawberry, and apple pie.  Yum!

Guests gathered around for a few special toasts after dinner, including the father of the bride, father of the groom, the bride’s sister Ashley, and groom’s brother Evan.    Guests ate, drank, and danced the night away in honor of the couple. This was definitely #OneForTheBrooks and we were truly honored to help make it come together. Congrats Sarah & Alex!!
