Summer is one of the most popular seasons for weddings! From beachside bashes to backyard barbecues, many couples want to have fun in the sun on their wedding day. Don’t let minor factors like bugs or rain keep you and your guests from enjoying the celebration. Here a few helpful tips, to ensure that your outdoor wedding goes off without a hitch!

Rain or Shine

One thing that a couple can’t control for on their wedding day is rain, so it is important to have a back-up plan. Although rain on your wedding day is rumored to be good luck, most couples hope for clear skies when planning an outdoor wedding. Most venues that offer an outdoor wedding space, also have an indoor space available that can be used for the ceremony, in the case of rain. If your wedding venue does not have indoor space, or you are planning a backyard wedding, consider renting a tent. Even if it doesn’t end up a raining, your guests can use the tent for shade!

Bug Free

The warmth of summertime also means that bugs are out and about, so you may get some uninvited guests the day of your wedding. Keep your friends and family comfortable by offering bug spray at your ceremony and reception. Incorporate a basket of bug spray and wipes into your ceremony décor for your guests to grab as they please. Candles are romantic and elegant, but also are great for keeping bugs away! Having a backyard bash? Line your yard with tiki torches for intimate lighting that will act as bug repellent!

Stay Cool

The summer, especially here in New England, can be very humid. It is important to keep guests as cool as possible. An idea we love, that is both cute and creative, is to supply guests with personal mini fans. Choose a color that goes with your theme! Or as an added touch you could even personalize them. Etsy is a great site that sells personalized wedding accessories. Click on the link for more inspiration!

Hydrate

With any outdoor bash in the summer, it is important to stay hydrated. A drink station is a cute and clever addition to a cocktail hour or reception. Your guests can help themselves to water as they please! Lemonade or iced tea are other refreshing drinks to offer. Add some fresh fruit or mint to dress up your drink dispensers!

The exchange of vows is one of the most photographed moments of your big day.  As you make your way down the aisle, guests will be admiring your dress, bouquet, and your ceremony décor.

Decorated arches are trending at modern weddings! Your ceremony backdrop can be a beautiful focal point that reflects your taste and personality. From flowers to ribbons, the possibilities are endless. There are so many different wedding arches, deciding which one is for you can be overwhelming, so we have posted a few of our favorite styles as inspiration!
Fabric

Keep your wedding light and whimsical with a ceremony backdrop draped in a fabric. From tulle to burlap, choose a fabric that reflects your taste. Heavier fabrics are great for a rustic theme, while breezy, sheer fabrics are gorgeous for a boho style wedding.

Flowers

Anyone who has planned or been to a wedding knows that flowers are one of the key aspects to the decor. Why not incorporate flowers into your wedding backdrop?! Flowers not only look stunning but they smell great as well! Fresh flowers radiate positivity. What more could you want on one of the most important day of your lives? Drench a wooden or plastic arch frame in flowers for an elegant and fresh look at your ceremony.

Wood

A wooden arch is a must have at a rustic theme or outdoor wedding! What we love about a wooden arch is you can dress it up with both flowers, and different fabrics! Antique wooden doors can also be transformed into a gorgeous backdrop for your ceremony.
