Jane & David's Glamorous New Years Wedding

9/5/2018

Jane and David’s New Years weekend wedding was definitely a special one.  The couple had a vision for a day that encompassed who they are. To accomplish that, they brought together their favorite people on the guest list and on the vendor list too. It was truly a collaborative vision and the result was a work of beauty.

All photos captured by Root Photography, who traveled up from Florida to be a part of the day!

Both the bride and groom started the day off getting ready at the Hotel Commonwealth, where they were staying for the weekend.  It is the perfect epicenter of Boston life; right in the heart of Kenmore Square and near Fenway Park, the location allowed them to easily get to the church and the reception venue, and provided a stunning backdrop for some very Boston photos.  Beauty prep was done onsite with hair by Katy Brown and makeup by Demiche. After a few great solo shots, the bride and groom met up for a first look and some snowy outdoor photos too before heading over to the ceremony.

The ceremony was located at King’s Chapel in Boston, a truly historic site that is over 300 years old. In fact, it is a stop on the Freedom Trail walking tour of our city – such a cool place to tie the knot! They have a few very distinct attributes, including a bell cast by Paul Revere that our groom was allowed to ring and a crypt beneath the building, the entrance of which was a perfect place for some creepy/romantic photos right after the ceremony.  Guests cheered as Jane and David sealed their vows with a kiss, and then everyone made their way over to the reception by bus.  The bride and groom and a few of their family members rode in style thanks to a luxury van from MBT Worldwide.

While guests made their way to the Charles River Museum of Industry and Innovation in Waltham, we were putting the final touches on the reception space with the help of a very talented team.  Café lights were strung by Seacoast Events, who also provided a glittery gold backdrop to the room.  The terrific group at Forklift Catering managed all of the rentals (PEAK), liquor (Gordon’s), and bartenders, as well as the incredible menu and top-notch service, of course. Nicole from STILL was onsite laying out the beautiful centerpieces, lighting each votive, and delivering other hand-created elements like the table numbers and escort cards. And one of our favorite wedding bands was warming up: Ripcord.  They were getting ready to set the dance floor on fire!

One of the most special moments of this wedding for us was the arrival of the bride and groom at the museum.  They were ready to party, entertain their guests, and see the fruits of their labor.  They walked into the completed Jackson Room, all set up for their reception, and were at a loss for words.  It had come together exactly as they had hoped, and more!

With a snowy evening ahead, guests settled into the museum for cocktail hour, ready to party.  Two bars were ready to serve and there was a fabulous raw bar on the 2nd floor gallery too, with the bride and groom first in line to have an oyster.  Guests could sign the guestbook, a piece of art straight of the bride and groom’s homes before they lived together.  Before we invited guests into the main hall for dinner, the photographers captured a whole group photo – one that is sure to mean a lot to the bride and groom as they look back on the special event.

Guests filtered into the Jackson Room and were just as wowed as the couple at the design.  They were seated and ready for dinner, but before we began the bride and groom make a special whisky toast – that was a first for us and so special to the two of them! And then… a surprise for all of us: one of the guests works for the Mayor of Boston and presented a special proclamation to the couple in honor of their wedding day.

Forklift then began to serve the four-course meal. It was very clear that this couple cares a lot about food.  There was a beet salad, choice of entrée, a cheese course (straight from their special “cheese” cake!) and a piece of funfetti cake.

We heard from a few special and heartwarming toasts before the dance floor opened; Jane and David’s siblings/friends Katie, David, Mary, and Eric all had words of wisdom for the newly married couple. Then, dancing began in earnest, starting with a special first dance between Jane and David with all of the guests to join them on the dance floor for the rest of the night.  Towards the end of the evening, there was everyone’s favorite late night food, including “to go” containers for anyone who wanted a snack but didn’t want to leave the dance floor.  It was the perfect way to end the evening, as the bride and groom made their way onto the last bus of the night with the rest of their guests.

Congratulations Jane and David! Boston certainly misses you, but you are making waves wherever you go, now as a married pair.
