Cell Phones at Wedding

To use cell phones or not to use cell phones at weddings.... which side are you on? Modern brides have strong opinions in what has become the great modern wedding debate. Need advice on which way to go? Read on for ideas and tips on incorporating or banning cell phones from your wedding.

Saying 'I Do!' to Phones

• Post signs around your venue with a hashtag- for example #johnandabbyswedding or #smithwedding. Guests can post their favorite pics on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook for you to track later.
• Track your hashtag on Instagram at your wedding by using an app, like Eventstagram, which creates and projects a live feed of guest photos.
• Text your guests a picture of your invitation rather than mailing them out- this eco-friendly invitation will save you money in postage!
• Ask your guests to text or email you any photos they've taken that night as soon as they can, so you can reminisce the morning after.

Unplugging Your Wedding

• Include a note on the invitation that your wedding is strictly unplugged, and guests should leave their phones at home.
  
• Post signs around your venue, and on reception tables that remind your guests to "kindly turn off their phones and devices."
• If you notice your guests are too obsessed with their Facebook feed, ask the DJ to make an announcement. Something simple and polite to say is "Ladies and gentlemen, please put down your cell phones and join the bride and groom for their first dance." 
• Worried your guests won't follow the rules? Ask venue staff to collect guest cell phones in individual paper bags upon arrival to be returned at the end of the night.
